Namchi consider as a dham, so-called its famous as Chardham. NamchiSituated in a picturesque location at a distance of 88/100 km from Siliguri (Bagdogra Airport/ New Jalpaiguri Railway Station )&92km from Gangtok. Namchi, literally translating as 'top of the sky' is the South Sikkim. Recently Namchi isone of the Famous destination for World's largest statue of 135 feet statue of Guru Padmasambhava in Samdruptse monastery, the patron saint of Sikkim, the city is also known for its Buddhist monasteries and beautiful mountain ranges. Namchi commands panoramic view of the Darjeeling, Kalimpong hills and snow-capped mountains of Kanchenjunga range and the Rangit valley. It is said that this hill is actually a dormant volcano and Buddhist monks come here to pray to keep the volcano calm and peaceful. Chardham or Siddheshwar Dham located on the Solophok Hill here was our biggest attraction for visiting Namchi.Namchi is rapidly becoming a magnet for domestic tourists due to the extraordinary statues, prayer flags waving on the side of road. Visitors can also savor the majestic view of Mt. Khangchendzonga from this location
Samdruptse : Samdruptse Hill is consider “the wish fulfilling hill” in Namchi. This epic hill is ornamented with a giant statue of the Guru Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche); the patron saint of Sikkim who has been showering its blessings since more than 1,200 years.Samdruptse is a gem of a place near Namchi. One needs to walk for around 250 mts from the parking area before reaching the base of this beautiful monastery located atop a hill. Once you get inside, do take the stairs to witness the giant.
